Japan Society Trip to New York Recap- Brianna Bjordahl ’19

This past November, the Japan Society went on our annual, day-long trip to New York City. Taking a bus from our home base at Mitsuwa Marketplace into Manhattan, club members had the day to explore the city in groups, with the plan to meet back at the bus station for a club membership dinner later in the evening. The majority of the group stayed together and stopped at a local ramen restaurant for lunch before visiting various other places around the city, including shops in Times Square and a visit to Kinokuniya, a popular Japanese bookstore chain. That evening, we reconvened to take a bus back to Mitsuwa, where we enjoyed a dinner of traditional Japanese foods paid for by the club. The club members had a chance to do some final shopping for Japanese groceries and other souvenirs from the store’s marketplace and pop-ups, before we gathered back in the school minivans and headed back to Bucknell.
