BUAA Board drives significant engagement growth over 5-year period

The Bucknell University Alumni Association (BUAA) Board of Directors represents alumni and engages Bucknellians to ultimately promote and enhance the University. In 2016, we set a bold 5-year goal to increase engagement by 15% per year with students, alumni, and digital platforms to further our mission.

Despite the challenges over the past few years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are proud of the aggressive goals we set and the hard work and energy that a volunteer group of 45-55 Board members exhibited. We have achieved a 5-year average of 17% with students, 24% with alumni, and 391% with digital platforms reaching both students and alumni. Our impressive cumulative engagement—largely attributed to an increase in digital platforms such as social media, blogs, and virtual events—can be viewed in the chart below.

The BUAA Board of Directors feels more connected to alumni and students than ever before. There is much more work to be done to expand our presence and impact, and we are working toward our next set of goals. Here’s a peek into some of our latest initiatives:

  • Educating ourselves about areas of student need and university priorities in preparation to support the next comprehensive campaign
  • Reengaging with Bucknellians across the country through our new webinar series “By Alumni, For Alumni” and regional alumni leadership forums
  • Identifying ways to support future generations of Bucknellians through professional skill building, networking, mentorships, and internships
  • Collaborating with other Bucknell groups to build an inclusive community of alumni
  • Fostering sustainability using collaboration tools and by increasing our endowed funds
